Espera Capital and its funds will be domiciled in Ontario, Canada, one of a few fund-and investor friendly jurisdictions with well-developed legal frameworks governing the venture sector.

The fund is supported by a mix of individual and institutional investors. Individuals are qualified as accredited investors.

Companies and their teams originate in the Latin American region, Canada and the United States.

At the point in the venture cycle at which Espera invests (mainly Seed stage), investee companies are usually domiciled in a business and investor friendly jurisdiction with strong investor protection and well-developed legal frameworks governing the venture sector, most frequently Delaware, USA or Ontario, Canada This enables fundraising and expansion in subsequent rounds.

Espera’s key objectives are to seek solid founding teams at reasonable valuations with well-thought-out ideas that translate into great, regionally/globally scalable business models with discernable traction. We work to help them to grow, bringing new funders, customers and partnerships to the table where possible. We also offer them a soft landing in Canada, where we are connected to testing, technology and funding networks in order to help them tackle global markets.

A: Espera will follow the American Waterfall model, whereby investors will receive their invested capital and returns as and when exits are made from portfolio companies. Espera will not put the original capital at risk a second time by recycling either the capital or returns.
